’m very excited to announce our Barbells for Boobs (BB4B) event for 2016! This will be our sixth year in a row participating in this annual national event, which is a fun community-builder for us. Over the past five years our wonderful community has raised nearly $90,000! What an amazing feat! This year we plan to keep that momentum rolling and do our part to help beat breast cancer.
8:00 AM - Event kick-off
8:30 AM - First heat of the WOD “Grace” begins. Heats will run every 15 minutes, until everyone completes the workout. There will be a heat sign up on the white board. You can sign yourself up for a time slot when you arrive to the gym that day.
This year’s gym goal is to raise $20,000! To participate, you’ll want to create your own BB4B fundraising page. To meet our team goal, we’d encourage everyone to raise $80. Money raised by our team will go directly from BB4B to a local organization, A Silver Linings Foundation, which helps ensure early breast cancer detection and prevention for all, despite socioeconomic status.
Visit our CrossFit Wilmette team page by CLICKING HERE and click “Join Team” to make sure your fundraising goes toward our goal. It’s very easy to sign up, and you can push your page out via social media to help your fundraising efforts. Everyone who raises $80 gets a t-shirt and you get a sweatshirt for raising $400.
If you don't wish to start your own page, but would still like to donate, please CLICK HERE.
Last year we came in 7th place in the nation! BB4B isn't having an official Pink Bra Tour anymore unfortunately. But since we're so well loved in the community, they're making a special trip out to CFW for our event! Z, the head of BB4B will be coming out to our gym and is currently in the process of recruiting a CF Games athlete to come over and join us for the day!!!
We’re working on fun plans for that day, including a silent auction and raffle. This was a huge success last year, bringing in more than $2000 of extra funds. If you’d like to help with the planning or donate something, please let me know. Anything from gift cards, sports tickets, or golf outings. All items are welcome!
Finally, please feel free to encourage friends and family to join us. We’ve had people of all ages, sizes, and abilities join us every year. This is a nice open house opportunity for you to show off your neighborhood box to friends and loved ones! Kids are welcome!
Thank you, and please feel free to email me with any questions.
