About ASLF

Founded in 2002 by Dr. Sandy Goldberg the mission of A Silver Lining Foundation a 501(c3) is to ensure dignified, respectful and equal access to quality cancer education and services for all, by creating meaningful partnerships with community, advocacy and healthcare organizations. A Silver Lining Foundation’s Vision is to ensure that socioeconomic status does not affect an individual’s ability to obtain information, timely cancer screening and diagnosis.

Comprised of five programs – it is our BUY A MOM A MAMMOGRAM® program that garners the most attention and response. Established in mid 2006 over 11,000 women and men have received information about and access to a cost free screening mammogram and diagnostic evaluation when indicated. Of those receiving services 99% are uninsured.

How do women (and men) find us? Through multiple partnerships with likeminded organizations including 311 Chicago City Services hotline, outreach events, our participating hospitals, media  and, increasingly, the internet.

Today, we face a real challenge in our country as affordable healthcare continues to slip out of reach. Roughly 50 million Americans are without any insurance. Add to that the ever increasing numbers of the “underinsured”- having some form of coverage yet unable to afford a large deductible or co-pays.

A Silver Lining Foundation endeavors to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
